Rohatsu 2019
Two Rivers Zen Community
“Pleasant breezes blew softly, the heaven rained moisture from a cloudless sky,
and from the trees there dropped flowers and fruit out of due season as if to do him honor.”
~ Buddhacarita
Rohatsu Sesshin
Residential Retreat
Friday, December 20- Sunday, December 22, 2019
Himalayan Institute: Sage Room
Honesdale, P.A.
Rohatsu Sesshin (“Morning Star Retreat”) is the most important residential retreat of the year. It marks and celebrates Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment. Rohatsu is a self-contained, very powerful and deep gathering of individuals dedicated to realizing and expressing the Buddha Way through deep silence, extended periods of sitting and walking meditation, shared meals, liturgy and body-movement practices such as Yoga and Tai Chi and concluding with the “Sounding of the Bell” and celebration.
Seiso Paul Cooper, Sensei and Senior Sangha members will lead Dharma talks and Q & A sessions. Seiso Sensei will provide Dokusan (private practice interviews). Rohatsu is considered to be the strongest sesshin of the year and functions as a powerful container that supports integration of body and mind and our individuality and oneness with the community and the world. We invite you to join us for all or part of this year’s Rohatsu Sesshin at the Two Rivers Zen Community as a way to strengthen, deepen and honor your practice through the shared energy of group practice.
