Zooming Zazen
“Remember, the universe in sitting is far different from other universes. Clearly understanding this truth, Buddhist ancestors pursue and realize the establishment of the will, training, the state of bodhi, and nirvana.” ~ Eihei Dogen: “Zanmai O Zanmai”
TRZC On Line Sessions & Zoom Links. Descriptions are below the grid.
To be admitted please enter and be seated a few minutes before the Zazen Bell rings.
Late arrivals: Please practice in the Waiting Room. You will be admitted to the Zoom Zendo after the zazen ending bell rings.
ZOOMING ZAZEN GUIDELINES
1- Gassho (bow) to the Sangha upon Entry. Gassho is a simple, efficient and quiet way to acknowledge, greet and honor your fellow practitioners, while maintaining silence in the Zoom Zendo meditation space. It is simply how we say “hello” and “goodbye” in the Zen tradition.
2- Daily Zazen: Enter on time. Have your screen on and audio muted before you enter. Please be seated and still before the 1-minute bell rings. Late arrivals should practice in the waiting room and will be admitted to the Zoom Zendo after the zazen ending bell rings. Plan your schedule accordingly.
3- Plan to sit for the full round. If you are practicing with your screen on, do not turn off your screen in the middle of the sitting unless it is a true emergency. If you have to turn your screen off, do not turn it back on until the host rings the bell to signal the end of the sitting. If you must leave before the ending bell, please gassho to the group before logging out of Zoom.
4- At the close of zazen, if you turned off your screen, quickly turn it back on and wait with your hands in gassho until the leader signals a bow. Leaders, please wait for everyone before the gassho.
5- Doans (practice leaders) please face the group throughout the zazen session.
6- In order to approximate the zendo atmosphere, please take your coffee, tea or other beverages before entering or after leaving the zendo.
