Meditation and Continued Study of the Wheel of Life and Death

The wheel of life serves a a pictorial representation of cyclic existence or “samsara.”  It functions as a template for mapping out and understanding internal mental processes and their behavioral manifestations. The group will examine the wheel with an eye toward personal growth and the therapeutic process.

Zazen (Zen meditation) functions as the core practice and foundational teaching of the Zen Buddhist tradition. Shared group practice in a supportive setting provides the opportunity to fine-tune and deepen personal insights, which can lead to further discourse in the integration of both traditions. Readings from the Soto Zen scriptural and koan literature and psychoanalytic readings drawn from the Bionic development and from the integrative literature on Zen and psychoanalysis serve to structure our explorations with emphasis on the clinical relevance of these two highly experiential disciplines.
