Rohatsu Zazenkai 12/11/22 8:30 – 4:30.

And having remembered each birth and each death in all those various transmigrations, the compassionate one then felt compassion for all living beings.

Due to Covid constraints all Zazenkai sessions are currently conducted via the Zoom platform.

“Rohatsu” Buddha’s Enlightenment Zazenkai

Sunday, December 11th, 2022 8:25 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Rohatsu (“Morning Star Retreat”) is the most important Zazenkai of the year. It marks and celebrates Sakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment. Rohatsu is a self-contained, very powerful and deep gathering of individuals dedicated to realizing and expressing the Buddha Way through deep silence, extended periods of sitting and walking meditation, liturgy and readings from the Buddhacarita, Buddha’s Biography.

Zazenkai literally means “coming together for zazen” and consists of a daylong retreat devoted to practice, with Great Silence observed throughout the day. This is an opportunity to intensify and deepen practice and settle the mind in a supportive group setting.

Join together and feel the energy of intensive shared group practice

Silent practice will begin at 8:25 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. The day includes Fellowship, Zazen, Kinhin (walking meditation), Recitation of the Buddhacarita, “The Life of the Buddha,” Dharma Teaching, and Council.

Zazenkai is open exclusively to full-time participants. Your registration assumes your commitment to attend the full day.

Register via email: You will receive a confirmation and relevant materials via email. Participation is limited. Registration will be confirmed on a first respond basis.

Practice is freely offered to all; donations in the spirit of dana are welcome.
